Belmont
A lot of things had been happening recently that had set the Remnants on high alert. Something had happened in Medius. Claims of a dark king and an army of shadow creatures marching on the land towards the west. And days later, a strange fog bringing disturbing phantoms that no blade could banish. Belmont had seen nothing like it in all his time. And yet with it over the Remnants were now begining the process of bringing the new applicants to their training. He had been here some time ago himself. The new ones taken from their barracks, stripped of clothing, weapons, equipment. They would be naked passing from this life as they were coming into it. Only the best could be chosen. Only those with a self assured hatred of spirits. And today he was here to oversee their tests.

Kitsume
Kitsume had been once inducted into a small crack team of militants and mercs known as the Black Spirals. There numbers dwindled over time until just five of them remained. And soon they had come under the notice of the Remnants. Not that it mattered who she worked for or what the cause. All her true calling to do was destroy the spirits of this world. For as long as she could remember after waking up after the Dawn was being alone. Her eyes seeing the world slightly differently. She had worked for twenty years on surviving and had not yet aged to that extra twenty years. But only she had figured this out. And she was not telling anyone. When her little group had been chosen for this 'special' training, she had readily agreed. They were demon hunters and she could use the extra training. Hell they all could. The five of them had been together for almost four years and had learned and earned each others respect. Today she stood nude, stripped of everything and in full view of everyone. She wsa slender and rather short. A runt among the taller members of her once merc group. But they knew she packed a punch. Her body was trim and lightly muscled. It spoke of her speed and swiftness. Her beautiful face was serene in the thoughts of her objectives. Survival. She cut a good figure, most men would enjoy to look at her, most men would die before getting that first wolf howl or whistle out. Kitsume was one tough bitch but she had a heart. A softness that no one could understand. And she stood there at attention, her crystal blue eyes staring off awaiting orders. Like a good little soldier.

Belmont
The armoured figure stepped out of the caravan as the other Remnants would line up the potiental candidates. Behind them was the forests, the skies red like blood now that sun was setting. Just liike it had been on his first day. Todays bunch were pathetic. He remembered his own had been far more worthy looking than this lot. And they had been slaughtered like pigs. Only he had the heart to survive. There was one thing that stood out though, among a group of haired chests there was a single woman, a pair of breasts among them. Not that Remnants much cared whether a member was male or female. They were all the same. Corpses. With that he stepped forward ready to give the same speech his instructor had on that very same day, his cold blue eyes glancing once at the female. Then moving along the rest of the group. " You have come here because you have displayed talent in killing spirits". He began to walk down the line, his armour clinking in time with his movements. A constant predatory stance. " Let it be known that the moment you accepted this recruitment test, you died. Remnants. Are dead men. And it takes the dead to fight the dead. Your corpses now belong to me. Whether they are put in the ground, or they continue to stand at the end of this. Well. Thats entirely down to you". He pointed off towards the forests. " In this place there was once a flourishing village after the dawn. And then spirits, demons rose up from beneath the earth and wiped it out. Of those people there were only 26 survivors". He clenched his fist remembering that day, he was one of those 26. " They made it to Mare Maris, and joined the military, fuelled by their hatred for spirits. They fought with a vim not seen before among any soldier. With this. The Regiment known as the Remnants was formed, made up of those whose hatred for spirits allows us to destroy them". He brought his fist down onto his palm. " Without mercy Without tolerance, without pity....spirits and those touched by them must be eliminated...today will determine which of you live that....for you will see just how much mercy they will show you in kind....in a moment you will be given a map..an area of 10 yards marked out. You will remain within this area, for three days. Unarmed. Unclothed. And completely alone...if you survive...then you are worth my time".

Kitsume
Kitsume listened to his speech and almost gave into the yawn. They had been gather together nude and were to remain alone, unclothed, and unarmed. Well she was never unarmed. She may look like a little bit of nothing, but she was a survivor. There she stood, listening to his speech on what would happen and instinctively she knew that this would be a time of survival of the fittest. Most women would be trying to cover themselves or blushing by now, but she was comfortable with her body and with the others staring at her. The big guy next to her raised his hand, like a dumbass and she resisted the urge to do a facepalm. Don was not the brightest ray of sunshine. But what he lacked in brains he made up for in his height and strength. The man's rumbling bass come forth, "Alone from each other?" Again she resisted the urge to facepalm. And her crystal blue eyes rolled upwards.

Belmont
The moment that man spoke up, Belmont's hand reached for his sword, drew it out. And in one swing, a lethal arc of steel passed through flesh. Through bone. There were gasps among the crowd as this fool's head tumbled to the ground. The other full fledged Remnants however. Remained stoney faced. Watching on. Some would call this brutality. But he called it mercy. Remnants relied on more than killing power. But a requirement to think and act. This man did not have what it took. The demons would make him suffer. " Any other questions?". He asked aloud, if there were none. He gave the signal for the Remnant scouts to begin showing each person their assigned locations.

Kitsumet
She watched the brutal slaughter of the man beside her. But that split moment that the blade exited the sheath, a switch turned on in her brain and it swung towards her in the process of attacking him. She ducked under the blade and rotated on the heel of her foot and out of the way of the swing. Away from the blood spouting corpse she moved so swiftly that not a single drop splashed against that slightly tanned skin. As he began to speak again, she was careful to remain away from the body. Her eyes narrowed at the man with the armor. Ass that he was, he was right. Quickly those narrowed eyes focused upon the man and began to catalog the weakness in the armor. But before she could finish her assesment they were being lead by the scouts to their locations for the next three days.

On the way to her spot, she kept that blue gaze moving in order to remember where she was in case of having to trek back after three days. Never knew what they would do. Survival was key, but she needed tools to survive. As her and the scout continued through the forest, she saw the gleam of a nice piece of flint. Like a child playing kick the can, she quietly kept that rock in front of her by using her foot to push it along the ground. She did not want the scout to pick up on the fact she was gathering her own tools along the way unsure of what would be available when they got to the area. Best to be prepared. Unless noticed, she would end up with the flint inside her area.

Belmont
She would not be picked up in her actions by the scout. Or at least she would not be reprimanded for it. Regardless they showed her the spot and left her there. it was a clearing with several burned down houses. This relayed to the point that the man had been making earlier. That there had once been a village in this place. One that had been burned down and attacked by demons the sounds of horse and carriage in the distance. It sounded like the Remnants were now leaving the area. And the recruits to their own fates. A few minutes after it, what followed was complete silence. Then seconds later broken by hungry shrieks of what sounded too inhuman to be any kind of beast. They were coming..

Kitsume
So there was no reprimand and the scout left. Good. With that the few burned out house were noted and in the span of those few seconds, she was already to the first one. Her foot kicking up the flint and her hand catching it as she moved. Vines crawled up the burned out buildings and using the flint, she began to hack away at them and throw them to the ground at her feet. various lengths of vines. Her ears picked up the sound of the remnants moving off. But she kept herself focused upon the task at hand. With the handful of vines, she moved into the building and piled them up at her feet. Like one hell bent upon her task, she ignored the sounds of something inhuman coming her way. Fear never registering in her mind. With swiftness and speed, she rushed back out of the house, a two story one and quickly gathered up debris from the trees sprouting up and around the area. The thing was coming but was not visible yet and who knew the others might buy her some much needed time. With sticks in hand, she rushed back into the house. The trick was not to run, since they only had a 10 yard area, but to fortify the area as much as possible. The entrance to the building she quickly began to block with as much rubble from the building as she could. It would slow whatever it was down. Then with the flint she began to sharpen the sticks into deadly points. Then with the flint in her mouth, and the sharpened sticks, she began to tie a few of the vines to them and string them up across the stairs leading up to wat remained of the second story. Carefully among the rubble of the house she placed a few more of the sharpened sticks so that whatever came in was sure to step on them, causing damage. Lastly she searched through the burned out kitchen for pots and pans.

Belmont
Demons would begin to approach the areas in which the candidates were located. As they reached these areas screams were heard. Obviously some were not as smart, or as prepared as Kitsume was. By the sounds of things many of them were dying. That was probably a good thing. For the demons would be attracted to the noise. And the more noise they made the less demons would be heading in her direction. But there were a few. Coming out of the bushes. Meanwhile on a cliff face overlooking the forest region. Belmont stood, listening the choir of screams and remembering his own test. He asked which of the candidates had been taken to the village area. And he was surprised to hear it had been the woman. She had been fast reacting when he had pulled the blade on the fool. He wondered just how she would fare now.

Kitsume
The screams of the others were ignored, most would be frightened and not to say she wasn't but that was the difference. Having fear and continue on with it was bravery. It would not stop her. After finding a few metal containers. she slowly moved up the stairs and around her traps. There would be at least three of those at head level in order to be quick kills. As she went around the second floor, she found the perfect place. The bedroom. Her last stand. Here there was a hole in the floor big enough for her to go through. A bolt hole. and the remains of a large bed. Good. She set the sticks and vines to the side and moved the bed so that when the things came up here, they couldn't see the hole. With one of the vines she tied to a loose cross beam so that when she jumped down to the next floor and pulled it with her, the whole rest of the ceiling would come crashing down. And perhaps the whole building. If she survived, she would be well hidden and take a few with her. There she laid upon the bed, nude and whole heartly looking ready for night of pleasure. On the ruined headboard, she left the sharpened sticks arranged as if they were rubble and debris. But they would be there for her to use in close combat. The flint she tied with a vine around her ankle so she wouldn't loose it. It was safely nestled to her flesh. One could only hope that whatever finally entered the bedroom would want sex before trying to kill her.

Belmont
More screams followed in as the sun began to creep down below the horizon. Nearby the sounds of eting. By the looks of it one of the other candidates had attempted to run from his attackers and had ended up near your area. Likely the remnants would have killed him anyways if he had been found of his his lcation. But unfortunatly that man being nearby only drew other demons towards the feeding frenzy. A few of them with enhanced senses who picked up the smell of female flesh. These demons were too lusty, enticed by what they might do with a female on their end they walked in follwoing their noses to the house that she hid inside. Unaware of the traps she had set.

Kitsume
Kitsume heard them entering the house and a few curses as the first of the traps went off without a hitch. Four out of the five of them having stepped upon the sharpened sticks. Chalking it up to the rubble they would continue up the stairs and three of them would die as their feet tripped the swinging traps of sharpened sticks. Smashing into their heads the sticks would leave just two of them. One perfectly uninjured and one only slightly so. As they followed their noses to her, she lay there beckoning them to their lusty doom. With a soft and sultry, "Come on boys, at least give me some fun before my death. I wouldn't want to die a virgin." This only seemed to excite their lusty natures as the advanced into the room. "Now the bed is only big enough for one at a time. I'll get you both, don't worry." She even turned on her knees to present them with the option of the fully submitting female form in the doggy style position, totally at their mercy. As the first one climbed up and began to move into position. Her hand went for the first stick and shoved it between her legs and up into
his stomach area. With a quick roll she was on her back still holding one stick on the screaming demon and the other hand she reached for a second one shoving it into his neck. Blood burned as it showered her and she was off the bed and into the hole before the dead one fell upon the bed. Her hand caught the vine attached to the beam and pulled the whole building down around them, crushing the still living demon. Into the kitchen she fell and rolled into an open cabinet. The house crashed around them in a burst of debris and beams. She remained in the cabinet under the rubble for the next few days, the signatures of the dead demons masking her own.

Belmont
The next few days would be slow, and the only thing that would be ediable in this place was the flesh of the demon. But whether or not she would tke that taint into herself was entirely down to her. It was either that or starve. Which may have been preferable. Regardless of what she choose in the early hours of the third day. The sounds of horses once again travelling inland was apparant. There were the sounds of shouts form the outside, each one seemed to indicate another corpse found another candiate lost. And for Belmont who led this group. It looked as if there were no survivors of this years selection. He strolled now into the last area, the place that so many years ago had been his home. Been the home to the founding members of this order. He remembered it before it was a burned out husk. But it had been the place of his rebirth in many ways, for it had also been the place he took his test. By the looks of things. The female was not here. She was probably either dead. Or had ran off. He waited a few more moments in the centre. Taking in the scenery before he would decide to sound out the call.

Kitsume
As the call was sent out, the female in question's head popped out of the rubble and she moved a large slab of ceiling. A smile formed on her dirt streaked face. The smell of soup would be tingling the senses as she looked at the armored man. "Care for some soup? I made plenty" Her smile said it all, it twinkled and laughed at the fact he though she was die so easily. "It rained last night and although demon is not the best of meat. It works. And the leaves from the vines make a good stock." Survivalist to the last. She was cut, dirty and had blood dried to her, but there she stood looking proudly at him.

Belmont
To say that it was strange viewing a naked woman talking about soup made from ines and leaves. Would be indeed to say something. However what was strager about this evennt wasn't in her nudity or the fact she was making soup but in the idea that she was actually still alive. Still. He supposed that nothing was impossible with enough skill, and she had indeed survived those tests that required them to do as they had done. " No thank you". He said plainly. Curious about the taste of such a soup but at the same time prefering not to find out. He raised the call for a single survivor. And the horse drawn carriage approached. Belmont thumbed over to it. " Get in". Before jumping into the back himself.

Kitsume
She looked up at him and raised an eyebrow, her hand reaching to her hip and remaining there, the elbow cocked in that look of 'You underestimated me didn't you?' But she did not get to say anything since the carriage was pulling up. It was sad that she was the only one strong enough to survive this ordeal, but it made sense. She did not even glance behind her as she stepped into the carriage, her nude body still covered in blood and ichor. Almost like war paint. She was still smiling the whole way out of the forest.
